Canine Ranch Security
Taking our cue from John R. Erickson, and Hank the cowdog, the childrens (and older cowboy) series of books. We would like to share the security force of Timespan with everyone.
In true Hank fashion we have had many misadventures with our canine friends and enjoy their daily companionship.
This first pic is of Anvil our Australian Shepherd at 12yrs. He is the retired head of ranch security. His main job these days is holding down the porch, and watching out for hay bale monsters.
Mighty Moby (The New Sheriff in Town)
At 18 months old and 90 lbs, Moby is mostly interested in eating and Rosey. Two jobs he takes seriously. A lovely, intelligent boy with a Marmaduke type nature. Moby has been with us for 4 days when this pic was taken.
Rosey Belle
Rosey is 6 this yr and has been with us since she was a pup. Besides being the object of Sheriff Moby's affections and attention, she loves to hold down the south 40 (of the couch that is) and chase those evil pig sisters back into the pen with Deputy Raven.
Deputy Raven
Raven the American bulldog at 2 yrs. The personal companion of the farm belle Nancy, wife to Dave, cowboy and all around good guy. Raven is a uniquely wonderful critter. She is in charge of henhouse discipline, and keeping order in the goat room at milking time. She also helps keep order with the evil pig sisters, and keeps cowboy Dave's feet warm at night.
The Till Pill (Terrible Tillie)
Tillie is the product of a chance canine encounter of unknown origins. We are not sure how old she is, 4-5yrs or so. She has been with us for 3 and a half yrs. She patrols all stalls and pens. Her attention to discipline is only surpassed by her love and affection for Eli. The ramrod of the outfit. In the house she hides under the table ready to ambush all evil doers.
The Rat Patrol Holly & Belle
The mother daughter team of Holly and Belle is terrible to behold. Terrible if your a rodent that is. They patrol the farm for hours checking every hole, nook and crany to make sure we are rodent free. These girls also make sure that old cowboy Dave is never alone and has no where to sit as they systematically beat him out of every chair in the house. Keeps him on his toes. On the farm if you see Belle you've found Dave. They are inseperable.
Murphy (The Border Patrol)
Murphy is the border guard of the farm. He is in charge of watching the driveway and checking all ID's on entering. Because he frequently abandonds his post to chase deer, he is on a dog run by order of The Till Pill. He is a happy go lucky guy who followed us home one day. Eli is faithful to his needs and he likes the comings and goings of the barn. As Night sentry he can join the local coyote clan in an occasional howl that can last all night.
